teacher pages and whatnot

Blog post #6 Teachers have their own pages now?  Teachers are catching up with technology, it seems. Many of them create online newsletters that are updated weekly, and others have even set up their own pages within their school's website. For instance, I decided to check out Leon High School's website. They have several teachers, and I came across Angie Culpepper's page. According to her welcome page (linked below), Angie is a 10th grade English and AP Language and Composition teacher. She included a picture of her and her family, all smiles. Her page is rather simple, but she's warm and welcoming nonetheless! On the sidebar, she placed links for anyone to be able to see. Depending on what class period a child is in, there's a clear way to discern which link is which.  Click  here  to see this teacher's website . Adulting with technology I, like many others, grew up in a world of technology. It's constantly improving and advancing. To

Blog post #5 How's Diigo been so far? Honestly? It's okay, but I definitely need more practice with it. I don't fully understand the purpose of Diigo. Something about bookmarking, but it's a little confusing for me to keep up with. I only know what I'm doing due to receiving assistance from the teacher and the lovely Morgan, who knows more about technology than I do, apparently. I'm sure the software means well, but it's been difficult trying to navigate through it. What do I like about it? That I can sync it with my Google devices so I don't have to keep reinstalling it. I know that once I get the hang of it, it'll be a breeze. I'm currently at the rocky beginning, getting accustomed to the flow of things. But I can only go up from here. What don't I like about it?  I don't understand what the point of using Diigo is, but I know it'll make sense with time. What about blogging? I really enjoy the creative freedom that comes

Blog post #4 (???) Twitter? Tweeting? How did that go? I haven't had that much experience with twitter before this class. I made an account briefly years ago but stopped using it because I kept overthinking it. What  I post? Is this funny? Is this interesting? But then I reunited with this beloved app and I'm back. I'm realizing how fun it is, to tweet whatever you want. I made a personal account so I don't have to put a filter on. For the class account, I have to primarily focus on educational content, but I know how to make things fun. I like searching for quirky memes or adding my own personal touch to things. I've been interacting with a few classmates I've seen active on twitter. Some of them like or comment on my posts, which is a mini confidence boost. It makes my efforts feel a little more appreciated. It's beneficial because I'm learning more about navigating through the website/app. It'd help my future students since I now have exist

Blog post #3 ELA? FSA? What's with all the acronyms? For those who don't know, ELA stands for "English Language Arts Standards" and the idea behind it is to prepare students for life outside the classroom? Is it effective? Well, that depends on who you ask. There are standards in place for grades K-12, which each grade having its own set. They gradually become more complex, the older the student gets. There's more required of them. Taking a glance at the kindergarten standards (who doesn't love those kiddos?) we can see that they're expected to "explore a variety of digital tools," which is probably referring to something that's easier for their little curious minds to comprehend. They're expected to know how to paint on the paint app found on most computers, if not all of them. If I were a kindergarten teacher, would I be able to show students how to use these tools? I mean, I understand how to use the paint app. It isn't hard
